Job summary

Teach Now is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Islington primary school, working within a small specialist nurture provision. You will support pupils from Reception to Year 3 on Thursdays, one day per week, with pay of £110–£120 per day depending on qualifications and experience.

In this role you will build trusting relationships, help children develop confidence, communication and independence, and work closely with the SEN team to promote wellbeing and progress

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND or complex additional needs.
• Calm, patient approach and confidence supporting children with limited verbal communication.
• Willingness to provide personal care respectfully.

Responsibilities

• Support learning, play and engagement through personalised activities and established routines.
• Encourage communication using visual supports, symbols and signing as appropriate.
• Provide sensitive personal care, including toileting, changing, dressing and mealtime support.
• Work closely with the SEN team to support pupils wellbeing and develop their independence.

Teach Now is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Islington, working within a small specialist nurture provision. Supporting pupils from Reception to Year 3, youll have the opportunity to build trusting relationships and celebrate meaningful progress throughout the academic year.

Pupils have complex developmental and communication needs, including some who are non-verbal or pre-verbal and use symbols and Makaton.

Your role

• Support learning, play and engagement through personalised activities and established routines.
• Encourage communication using visual supports, symbols and signing as appropriate.
• Provide sensitive personal care, including toileting, changing, dressing and mealtime support.
• Work closely with the SEN team to support pupils wellbeing and develop their independence.

What youll bring

• Experience supporting children with SEND or complex additional needs.
• A calm, patient approach and confidence supporting children with limited verbal communication.
• Willingness and confidence to provide personal care respectfully.
• Reliability and availability every Thursday for the academic year.
• Experience with Makaton, PECS, autism or visual communication systems is particularly welcome.
