Job summary

Trust Education Limited in Chesterfield is hiring a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support children with SEND and SEMH. You will work with pupils across Key Stage 1 to 4, in whole-class, small groups and 1:1 settings, helping them access learning and develop social and communication skills.

The role requires patience, empathy and flexibility; you will collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff to create a safe, inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

Qualifications

Special Needs and SEMH Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and flexible Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming special school in Chesterfield. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with a range of additional needs and make a positive impact on their educational journey.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils across a wide age range, from Year 1 through to Year 9.
  • Work with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and physical disabilities.
  • Provide support within whole-class settings, small groups, and on a 1:1 basis where required.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of each child, demonstrating flexibility throughout the school day.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for pupils.
  • Support pupils with their learning, social development, communication, and independence.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.
