Job summary

Trust Education Limited in Chesterfield is hiring a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support children with SEND and SEMH. You will work with pupils across Key Stage 1 to 4, in whole-class, small groups and 1:1 settings, helping them access learning and develop social and communication skills.

The role requires patience, empathy and flexibility; you will collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff to create a safe, inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEND and SEMH.
• Confident in building positive relationships with children from diverse backgrounds.
• Patient, resilient and empathetic with a passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Flexible and able to adapt to changing needs of the school and pupils.
• Experience supporting children with physical needs or willingness to learn.
• Effective team player who works well with colleagues and contributes to the wider school community.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils across a wide age range from Year 1 to Year 9.
• Work with children with SEND and SEMH needs and physical disabilities.
• Provide support within whole-class settings, small groups, and 1:1 when required.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and wellbeing.
• Adapt your approach to meet individual needs and demonstrate flexibility.
• Collaborate with teachers, teaching assistants, therapists and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
• Support pupils with their learning, social development, communication and independence.
• Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
