Salary: £450 - £525 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full Time, Long Term Supply

About the Role

Connex Education is working with a specialist education setting in the Chelmsford area to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant for a full-time, fixed-term position starting in September 2025.

This welcoming and inclusive setting supports children and young people with moderate learning difficulties (MLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and a range of associated social, emotional, and communication needs. The school promotes a nurturing environment, placing strong emphasis on life skills, emotional development, and positive relationships alongside academic progress.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of pupils with additional needs and who thrives in a calm, supportive, and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and small group support to pupils with SEND across the school day
  • Assist with the delivery of differentiated learning activities and personal development programmes
  • Help implement and monitor Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, social interaction, and communication
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment, promoting independence and confidence
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and the wider support team to deliver consistent care and support
  • Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Working hours: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Full Time, Long Term Supply

Person Specification

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, especially MLD or ASD
  • Ability to support both learning and social development with a calm, adaptable approach
  • A team player who can work collaboratively with other staff and contribute to a strong support system
  • A current DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through Connex
  • Willingness to assist with personal care if required
