SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School – High Peak

Location: High Peak (easily accessible from Glossop and Buxton)

Start Date: September 2025

Salary: £85 - £95 per day

Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive secondary school in the High Peak. This role involves working closely with students with EHCPs and a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, and social-emotional difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual students
• Assist in lessons across the curriculum, ensuring pupils can access learning
• Support students with communication, emotional regulation, and transitions
• Liaise with SENCOs, class teachers, and external professionals
• Contribute to progress tracking, pupil reports, and behaviour monitoring

What We're Looking For:

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (school-based or informal)
• Strong interpersonal skills and a patient, empathetic approach
• Confidence in managing behaviour and using de-escalation strategies
• A background in psychology, education, youth work, care, or similar fields is ideal
• Team Teach, Autism Awareness, or Trauma-Informed Practice training is beneficial
