Complex Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: Greenwich, SE10

Payrate: 105 - 115 per day

Start date: ASAP or September 2025 Start

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with complex needs? A welcoming primary school in Greenwich (SE10) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated SEND provision. This role involves working closely with pupils who have high-functioning needs, including ASD and non-verbal communication challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for pupils with complex needs, ensuring consistency and structure throughout the day
  • Deliver small group interventions in line with EHCP targets, focusing on communication, social skills and regulation
  • Use a range of strategies (PECS, visual timetables, sensory aids, Makaton) to promote engagement and inclusion
  • Work in partnership with the SENDCo, class teacher and external professionals to implement individual support plans
  • Create a safe, nurturing environment that encourages independence and personal development

Candidate Criteria

  • Relevant Qualification - Level 3 TA or degree in psychology or relevant field.
  • Proven experience supporting children with additional needs, particularly autism and non-verbal communication
  • Confident working 1:1 and leading small group interventions
  • Able to use a calm, patient and proactive approach to behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Familiar with the needs of pupils in a mainstream school SEND unit
  • Available for a full-time role, either ASAP or for a September 2025 start
