SEND SPECIALIST TEACHER

Location: Special Schools in Sheffield
Contract Type: Full-Time, Part-Time or Day to Day (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM 3:30 PM)
Start Date: Immediate

We are excited to invite compassionate and dedicated individuals to apply for the role of Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher, you must hold a valid QTS.

About the Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting the academic and social development of children with varying abilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating an engaging and adaptive curriculum, implementing effective teaching strategies, and supporting students in reaching their full potential. You will work within a collaborative team to ensure the students receive the best possible care, education, and emotional support.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lesson Planning & Curriculum Development

    • Develop engaging, inclusive, and well-structured lesson plans that align with the school s curriculum and meet the diverse needs of the students.

    • Use creative and varied instructional strategies to engage students, including hands-on activities, group projects, and multimedia resources.

  2. Delivering Lessons

    • Teach in a clear and effective manner, ensuring all students understand and engage with the material.

    • Adapt your teaching style and resources to meet the needs of each student, including those with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and other special needs.

  3. Assessing and Monitoring Progress

    • Conduct regular assessments to monitor student's progress and adjust teaching methods as needed to support individual learning goals.

    • Provide constructive and actionable feedback to students and their families, helping them achieve their full potential.

  4. Classroom Management & Support

    • Foster a positive, respectful classroom environment by implementing strategies to manage behaviour and encourage active participation.

    • Work closely with teaching assistants to provide one-on-one or small group support as needed.

    • Assist in managing challenging behaviours using positive reinforcement and a calm, patient approach.

  5. Supporting Social and Emotional Development

    • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to understand their emotional and social needs, helping them develop essential life skills.

    • Provide guidance and support to students, helping them navigate challenges both in and outside of the classroom.

  6. Collaboration with Staff and Families

    • Collaborate with fellow teachers, special education professionals, and support staff to ensure the student's academic and emotional needs are met.

    • Maintain strong communication with parents and guardians, regularly updating them on their child s progress and working together to address any concerns.

  7. Personal Care & Inclusion

    • Where necessary, provide personal care and assist students with mobility or physical needs, always maintaining dignity and respect.

    • Promote inclusivity in the classroom, ensuring that every student feels valued and supported.
