Job summary

Portico Academy Trust is seeking an experienced teacher to join our SEND team, initially based at Hamstel Infant School and Nursery, with duties across all Trust schools. The post focuses on delivering high-quality teaching to children with SEND and promoting inclusive practice.

You will plan and teach groups, conduct SEND assessments, and support ISP/EAL planning across schools, providing guidance to staff and liaising with parents and agencies.

Qualifications

  • Experience of teaching children with SEND across primary settings.
  • Strong ability to assess SEND needs and develop ISP or related plans.
  • Ability to work across multiple schools within a Trust.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach groups of children with SEND to support core subjects and phonics.
  • Conduct SEND assessments to support the SENDCo.
  • Maintain, order and develop SEND resources for staff and pupils.
  • Support teachers with ISP and EAL plans across the school and quality assure them.
  • Provide guidance on strategies for SEND pupils, including team-teaching where applicable.
  • Liaise with parents and agencies about SEND.
  • Cover classes when needed.

About the role

We are looking to recruit an experienced teacher with experience of teaching children with SEND at all schools within Portico Academy Trust. Initially based at Hamstel school site but the post holder will be expected to work over all schools in the Trust.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Plan and teach groups of children with SEND needs to support their knowledge and understanding of the core subjects, including phonics.
  • Conduct key SEND assessments to support the SENDCo
  • Maintain, order and develop resources pertaining to SEND for staff/pupils to use.
  • To support the teachers with the writing of ISP plans, including EAL plans across the school and quality assure those plans
  • Provide support and guidance to teaching staff around strategies for those pupils with SEND including team-teaching where applicable.
  • Liaise with key agencies including parents around all areas of SEND
  • Covering classes when needed
