Job summary

Lexden Primary School is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant & Admin Assistant to support the SENCo in helping children with SEND. The role includes delivering 1:1 and small-group support aligned to EHCP outcomes.

Role: SEN Teaching Assistant & Admin Assistant to the SENCo

Salary- Scale 4, point 8-9 (FTE salary £26,824 to £27,254)

Hours: Monday to Friday. Four days - 8:45am - 3:15pm, one day 8:45am to 5:15pm (including a daily, 30 minute lunch break). 32 hrs per week.

39 working weeks - (term time plus 5 x non pupil days)

About the Role
  • Work closely with the SENCO, teachers, pupils and families to support children with SEND.
  • Adapt learning to meet EHCP outcomes and deliver engaging 1:1 and small-group support.
  • Support the SENCo with administrative tasks.
  • Offer support and advice to staff on a range of aspects of SEN with a potential to deliver training.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
  • Holds a Level 3 Childcare qualification and Paediatric First Aid training.
  • Can effectively contribute to the creation of EHC plans and IPRA funding requests.
  • Has experience supporting children with a range of SEND, including pre-verbal pupils.
  • Understands communication and development needs, including total communication approaches.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Is willing to undertake training to support children with complex medical needs.

Our school is well maintained and boasts extensive grounds providing a large playing field, a Forest School area and two playgrounds. The outdoor pavilion provides shelter and is used as an outdoor classroom. We have seven main classrooms, a Nursery and a enhanced provision for the teaching of Hearing Impaired Children. The Nursery has places for 26 part-time pupils and they are involved in the social life of the school, helping them experience a very successful transition to our reception class in the mainstream school.The enhanced provision has 18 places and caters for pupils who are severe/profoundly deaf from across the whole of North East Essex.
