Job summary

Step Teachers are seeking a SEND Teacher for a long-term, full-time role starting September 2026 at an alternative provision in King's Lynn. You will deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons to pupils aged 5-16 with SEND, adapting to EHCP targets and creating a calm, inclusive learning environment.

Applicants should hold QTS or equivalent and have experience with SEND/SEMH, strong behaviour management, and trauma-informed practice.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with SEND/SEMH or alternative provision pupils.
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and inclusive practice.
  • Ability to engage and motivate learners with complex needs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons to pupils with SEND.
  • Adapt learning to meet individual needs and EHCP targets.
  • Create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Work closely with support staff, parents, and external agencies.

SEND Teacher - Long-term, temporary and ongoing, full-time starting September 2026

Hereis a specialist alternative provision for pupils aged 5-16, part of the Unity Education Trust. The setting supports young people with a range of additional needs and barriers to learning, providing tailored support and personalised educational pathways.

The school is committed to supporting pupils' personal development and helping them achieve positive outcomes through strong relationships, high expectations, and specialist support.

Duties as SEND Teacher:
  • Delivering high-quality, differentiated lessons to pupils with SEND
  • Adapting learning to meet individual needs and EHCP targets
  • Creating a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
  • Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
  • Working closely with support staff, parents, and external agencies
  • Monitoring and assessing pupil progress
Ideal SEND Teacher:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience working with SEND, SEMH, or alternative provision pupils
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and inclusive practice
