Job summary

Flourish Education Ltd in Hereford is seeking an experienced SEN Teacher to join a specialist SEMH school from October, full-time until the end of the academic year. The role covers KS1 to KS4, emphasising trauma-informed practice and thematic learning to build resilience and confidence.

You will plan and deliver differentiated lessons for pupils with SEMH and complex needs, collaborating with Teaching Assistants and staff to provide tailored support and ensure progress.

Qualifications

Are you an experienced SEN Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity working with pupils with SEMH and complex needs?

A specialist SEMH School in Hereford is seeking a confident and committed SEN Teacher to join their team from October on a full-time basis until the end of the academic year. The school supports pupils across KS1 to KS4 and places a strong emphasis on trauma-informed approaches and thematic learning to help pupils develop the confidence, resilience, and self-regulation skills they need to succeed.

This role is ideal for an experienced teacher who has previously worked within an SEN, SEMH, specialist, or similar educational setting. Planning is included within this role, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to take ownership of their teaching and create engaging, accessible lessons that reflect the individual needs of the pupils. The school also provides regular internal training around trauma-informed practice and SEMH, supporting staff to continually develop their understanding and approach.

As an SEN Teacher, your responsibilities will include:

• Implementing strong and consistent behaviour management strategies.

• Adapting learning and teaching approaches to overcome individual barriers to education.
• Assessing, tracking, and monitoring pupil progress and adapting planning accordingly.
• Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and wider school staff to provide consistent support.
• Supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing, social development, independence, and academic progress.
• Contributing to the school's thematic approach to learning.
• Participating in the school's internal training and professional development opportunities.

To be successful in this SEN Teacher role, you will need:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Previous experience working within an SEN, SEMH, specialist school, or similar educational environment.
• A strong understanding of SEMH needs and the barriers they can create to learning.
• Excellent behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach.
• Experience adapting teaching and learning to meet a wide range of individual needs.
• A good understanding of trauma-informed approaches would be advantageous.
• The ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils.
• A patient, resilient, and flexible approach.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• A genuine passion for helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, ambition, and independence.
