Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is recruiting a Special Needs teacher for a specialist SEND school in Rochdale. This temporary supply role runs from September 2026 to cover sickness absence, with five days a week 8:30am–3:30pm and potential part-time options (3 days+).

The role focuses on KS3 pupils with ASD, SEMH and other emotional/behavioural needs. The ideal candidate is committed to inclusion and capable of creating adapted lessons and leading teaching assistants.

  • Hold QTS or QTLS status.
  • Recent experience teaching students aged 11–16 with SEND.
  • Enhanced DBS disclosure and relevant checks.
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Provide a CV with a full employment/education history and explain gaps

Responsibilities

  • Teach a KS3 class with ASD, SEMH and other emotional/behavioural needs.
  • Create imaginative and adapted lessons meeting student needs.
  • Collaborate with staff, pupils, parents and multidisciplinary team.
  • Direct and support teaching assistants as required.
  • Demonstrate commitment to inclusion and high-quality teaching.

Tradewind are recruiting! Are you a talented Special Needs teacher looking for a new supply role?

Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for a teacher with experience of teaching students with social and emotional needs to join a specialist SEND school in Rochdale.

This is a temporary supply role for a qualified SEND teacher from September 2026 to cover a temporary sickness absence.

The Role
SEND teacher

Five days a week - 8.30 am to 3.30pm (part time availability would be considered if at least 3 days )

Teaching a key stage 3 age class with ASD, SEMH and other emotional and behavioural needs

The ideal teacher will -
  • be committed to inclusion and have a passion
  • be an excellent practitioner with the dedication and determination to inspire young people with their learning and development
  • be able to create imaginative and adapted lessons which meet individual student needs
  • Possess the emotional and physical resilience necessary when working with young people with a range of complex communication, behavioural and medical needs.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff, pupils, parents and the multidisciplinary team around the child.
  • Be confident and successful team players able to direct the work of teaching assistants.
  • While an experienced SEND teacher is preferred, the school are happy to consider applications from secondary teachers with a desire to move into the SEND sector and experience as an SEN TA or with children with complex needs in a support capacity.

To join us and be successful in this SEND Teacher role, you will need to:
  • Hold QTS Status or QTLS
  • Recent experience of teaching students aged 11 to 16 with SEND
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks
  • Provide a CV with a full employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK
