Job Title: SEND Support Assistant
Location: Sunderland
Start Date: ASAP / September 2025
Daily Rate: £89 – £108 (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist setting in Sunderland, seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Support Assistant. This rewarding role involves working with children and young people who require additional support due to a range of needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.

What the role involves:
  • Working closely with individual pupils to help them stay focused and engaged in lessons

  • Providing practical and emotional support throughout the school day

  • Adapting tasks to meet pupils’ learning styles and developmental levels

  • Promoting independence, self-esteem and positive behaviour

  • Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes

Who we’re looking for:
  • Someone with a patient, empathetic and adaptable nature

  • Previous experience supporting SEND children (in school or care settings preferred)

  • A team player who’s confident using their initiative

  • An understanding of the challenges faced by children with additional needs

  • Willingness to undertake any necessary training (Team Teach, Safeguarding, etc.)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
