Job summary

Rimo Jobs is seeking a SEND Specialist Teaching Assistant to support children with complex SEND needs in a primary educational setting. The role involves leading a hub/room provision, planning targeted interventions, and collaborating with teachers and external partners.

Our ideal candidate holds an NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants (or equivalent per EYFS) with specialist SEND training and a strong safeguarding ethic.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with complex SEND needs in an educational setting.
• NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent per EYFS requirements.
• Specialist training in SEND areas such as communication, cognition, SEMH, sensory or physical needs.
• Experience working with primary-aged pupils.
• Ability to implement and review interventions to meet EHC plan outcomes.
• Confidence in coaching and modelling practice to support staff development.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and commitment to child safety.
• Collaborative approach with staff, professionals, and external agencies.
• Ability to lead a hub/room provision and plan/deliver a curriculum meeting diverse needs.

• Plan for and deliver/support a curriculum meeting a range of needs.
• Coach, model practice, and support staff development in SEND interventions.

About The Role

• Experience supporting children with complex SEND needs in an educational setting, as a Teaching Assistant or in an equivalent role.
• An NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants (or an equivalent qualification, in line with EYFS framework requirements) Check early years qualifications - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
• Specialist training and/or experience in a key area of SEND, such as: Communication and interaction; cognition and learning; SEMH; sensory and/or physical needs.
• Experience of working with primary-aged pupils.
• The ability to identify, implement and review appropriate interventions so pupils can meet their EHC plan outcomes and/or personal targets.
• Confidence in coaching, modelling practice and supporting the development of staff.
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to keeping children safe.
• A collaborative approach, working in partnership with teaching staff, other professionals, and external agencies/voluntary and service providers.
• The ability to lead a hub/room provision, working directly with a group of pupils with SEND, and to plan for and deliver/support a curriculum that meets a range of needs.
