Job summary

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking five full-time Specialist Support Workers for the Education Inclusion Service to support SEND across the borough. You will focus on SEMH and SCI needs, upskilling staff in schools and working with the Barnsley Schools Alliance to improve inclusion and outcomes.

The role is 3-year fixed term, term-time only, with opportunities to travel across the borough and engage with schools, families and partners.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and SCI needs in schools.
  • Ability to model methods and upskill mainstream staff.
  • Strong communication, written and verbal, with partners and families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support, advice and guidance to schools.
  • Deliver interventions to remove barriers to learning.
  • Upskill staff through coaching and modelling techniques.
  • Review provision and impact measures for children and young people.
  • Work with schools and settings across the borough under SEND Reforms.
