Job summary

Prospero Teaching in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, is recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant to support students with SEND integrated into mainstream classes. The role involves assisting access to GCSE and entry-level curriculum and working in smaller specialist-led classes.

You will deliver one-to-one and small-group support, help implement IEPs and EHCP targets, support SEMH needs, and collaborate with teachers, families and external agencies to ensure pupils make progress.

Qualifications

• SEND experience, ideally within a setting integrating students with mainstream peers.
• Confidence supporting GCSE or entry-level curriculum delivery.
• Calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to SEMH needs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A relevant qualification in support, care, or education is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to secondary-age students.
• Support access to GCSE and entry-level curriculum content alongside mainstream peers.
• Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets.
• Support students' social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
• Work closely with teaching staff, families, and external agencies.
