Job summary

BCP Council is recruiting two SEND Resolution Officers to manage SEND Tribunal appeals, from registration through to resolution, ensuring timely progress and compliance with statutory duties.

You will work with families, children, carers and professionals, preparing documents, reviewing evidence and seeking early dispute resolution where possible. The role is based in Bournemouth with a starting salary of £40,444 and a 37-hour week.

Qualifications

• Needs a degree or high level of relevant experience in education or a legal context
• Evidence of training relating to legal and/or SEND processes

Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload of SEND Tribunal appeals from registration to conclusion
• Ensure cases progress effectively and within deadlines
• Prepare responses, case statements, submissions and evidence bundles
• Review evidence from education, health and social care professionals and identify gaps
• Work with parents, carers, young people, education settings, witnesses and legal reps
• Explore early dispute resolution through conversations, mediation and negotiation
• Attend and represent the Local Authority at SEND Tribunal hearings and related proceedings
• Maintain accurate case records and monitor deadlines and outcomes
• Identify recurring issues to improve service quality
