Job summary

Adecco is recruiting for a SEND Tribunals Officer in Croydon. The role sits in the Children, Families and Education Service on a long-term contract, with hybrid working (2-3 days in the office) and a 36-hour week. You will manage SEND Tribunal appeals, prepare documentation, and represent the Local Authority at hearings.

The ideal candidate will have degree-level education, strong SEND legislation knowledge, and experience with complex casework, mediation, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of SEND legislation (Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice).
• Experience in Local Authority, education, legal, public sector or SEND environment.
• Experience managing complex casework, appeals, mediation or Tribunal processes.
• Excellent written communication to prepare high-quality reports.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders including families, schools and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of SEND Tribunal appeals from review to hearing.
• Prepare detailed submissions, evidence bundles and Tribunal documentation.
• Represent the Local Authority at SEND Tribunal hearings and meetings.
• Lead on mediation requests and support dispute resolution processes.
• Assess legal, financial and reputational risks in Tribunal and mediation work.
• Collaborate with education, social care, health professionals and legal services.
• Provide advice on SEND legislation and Tribunal processes.
• Monitor outcomes, maintain records and produce reports.
• Contribute to service improvement through trend analysis and lessons learned.
