Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking a SEND Primary Tutor to deliver one-to-one tuition to pupils in Yeovil and surrounding areas. You will support primary-aged learners with SEND/SEMH, adapt sessions to individual needs and build a calm, trusting relationship to promote engagement and progress.

• Experience working with primary-aged children in educational or tutoring settings.
• Experience working with children with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Ability to deliver one-to-one or personalised support is desirable.
• Ability to adapt learning to meet individual needs.
• Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
• Patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people.
• Right to work in the UK; willingness to undertake enhanced DBS checks.

SEND Primary Tutor - Yeovil and Surrounding Areas

Location: Yeovil and surrounding areas Phase: Primary / SEND / SEMH Working arrangement: In-person

Quantum Scholars is looking for a supportive, patient and experienced SEND Primary Tutor to provide one-to-one educational support to children across Yeovil and the surrounding areas.

We have been approved to support young people accessing Alternative Provision and are looking for tutors who can provide personalised, engaging and flexible learning for primary-aged pupils who may have SEND and/or SEMH needs.

The role will involve building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil, adapting learning to suit their individual needs and helping them develop their confidence, engagement and progress. You may be supporting children who have struggled to engage with a traditional school environment and who require a calm, consistent and nurturing approach.

We are looking for tutors who are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and who can create a safe, positive and encouraging learning environment.

The role may involve

• Delivering one-to-one tuition to primary-aged pupils
• Providing support across core primary subjects, including English and Maths
• Supporting pupils with a range of SEND and/or SEMH needs
• Planning engaging, accessible and personalised learning activities
• Adapting teaching approaches to suit individual abilities, learning needs and levels of engagement
• Building positive, consistent and trusting relationships with pupils
• Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, independence and positive attitudes towards learning
• Supporting children who may have experienced barriers to accessing mainstream education
• Helping pupils re-engage with education in a positive and meaningful way
• Supporting pupils with their academic, social and emotional development where appropriate
• Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback
• Working collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required
• Maintaining clear and professional communication

Essential requirements

• Experience working with primary-aged children in an educational, tutoring or support setting
• Experience working with children with SEND and/or SEMH needs
• Experience delivering one-to-one or personalised support is desirable
• The ability to adapt learning and support to meet individual needs
• Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
• A patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach
• The ability to build trust and positive relationships with children
• A genuine commitment to helping children achieve their potential
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
• Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check, where required
• Satisfactory professional references
• You must have the right to work in the UK
