Job summary

Quantum Scholars seeks a SEND Tutor to work with children and young people across Somerset in-person. The role focuses on personalised support for learners with SEND/SEMH, building confidence and independence.

You will adapt teaching to individual needs, monitor progress and provide feedback while following safeguarding procedures. DBS checks and right-to-work in the UK are required.

Working Arrangement: In-person

Quantum Scholars is looking for a supportive, patient and experienced SEND Tutor to work with children and young people across Somerset. This is an in-person tutoring opportunity and is not an online role.

The role involves providing personalised educational support to learners who may have additional needs and benefit from a flexible, individualised approach to education. You will build positive and trusting relationships with learners, adapt your teaching to meet their individual needs and help them develop their confidence, engagement and independence.

The successful tutor will be able to create engaging and accessible learning experiences while remaining flexible to each learner's pace, interests, abilities and needs. Experience supporting young people with SEND, SEMH needs, or those who have found mainstream education challenging would be particularly beneficial.

  • Helping learners overcome barriers to education and re-engage with learning
  • Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback
  • Building positive, consistent and trusting relationships with learners
  • Working collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required
  • Maintaining clear and professional communication
  • Following safeguarding procedures at all times
Essential Requirements
  • Experience teaching, tutoring or supporting children and young people
  • Experience working with learners with SEND and/or SEMH needs
  • A good understanding of the individual needs and challenges that SEND learners may experience
  • Experience delivering one-to-one or personalised educational support is desirable
  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging, personalised learning
  • Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach
  • The ability to adapt teaching and learning strategies to meet individual needs
  • A genuine commitment to helping young people achieve their potential
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check, where required
  • Satisfactory professional references
  • You must have the right to work in the UK
