Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. in Bedford (MK42 area) seeks a Pastoral & Behaviour Teaching Assistant (SEND) for a full-time, long-term placement. You will provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND and SEMH, helping them engage and progress academically and socially.

The role offers ongoing professional development, dedicated consultant support, and a welcoming school environment. DBS check required or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young adults with SEND, SEMH, or challenging behaviour.
• Strong de-escalation skills, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.
• Passion for pastoral care and supporting vulnerable learners.
• An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs and SEND requirements.
• Work alongside classroom teachers to manage challenging behaviours and promote positive learning environments.
• Implement pastoral support strategies to build students' self-esteem, resilience, and emotional well-being.
• Help de-escalate situations and establish strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Track and report on pupil progress, engagement, and behavioural achievements.
