Job summary

Reed in Lambeth, London is seeking a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to support learners with SEND in a college setting. You will provide person-centred learning support and assist with accessibility, personal care, and mobility as required to help learners access education and college services.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, teamwork, and inclusive practice, with opportunities for ongoing professional development in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with learners, teachers, parents/carers, and other agencies involved with the students.
• Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment.
• Understanding of safeguarding, discrimination issues, and the difficulties faced by those with learning difficulties.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Exceptional organisational skills combined with good IT knowledge and sound administration skills.
• Experience of working with SEND learners in a secondary or further education environment is desirable.
• Child & Adult DBS required.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred learning support to learners with severe and complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
• Facilitate learners' access to learning programmes and college services and activities.
• Support personal development of learning/study skills and educational outcomes (including EHCPs).
• Work with individuals or small groups to encourage engagement or independent work.
• Assist learners with personal care, medical needs, and mobility as necessary, taking instructions from learners.
