Job summary

Milk Education is seeking dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistants to work across a number of welcoming specialist schools in Middlesbrough from October 2026, with long-term opportunities. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support and help pupils with SEND achieve their goals.

You will work closely with teachers to deliver differentiated activities, implement IEPs and behaviour plans, and foster a calm, inclusive classroom where every child can develop confidence.

Qualifications

• Recent experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Experience with ASD/ADHD or speech and language needs is advantageous.
• Excellent communication, literacy, organisation, and teamwork.
• Patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach.
• Commitment to helping learners build confidence.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND.
• Support pupils with communication, social skills, emotional regulation, confidence, and independence.
• Work with the class teacher to deliver differentiated learning activities.
• Implement IEPs and behaviour support plans.
• Maintain a calm, positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Support pupils with sensory needs using flexible approaches.
• Develop positive relationships with pupils to encourage participation and progress.
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff, parents, carers, and other professionals.
