Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex placement. Start date ASAP. The role is temporary but offers long-term opportunities with a competitive daily rate.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with MLD, SLD, autism and other needs, helping them with academic, emotional and personal development. Collaboration with teachers and other professionals is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEND (MLD/SLD/autism)
• Ability to adapt support for different needs
• Strong communication with pupils, carers and staff
• Calm, patient and empathetic approach

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND
• Support pupils aged 8-18 with academic, emotional and personal development
• Assist teachers with differentiated and engaging activities
• Support with communication, sensory needs and emotional regulation
• Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation where needed
• Help pupils develop independence and practical life skills
• Work with EHCP targets and personal development goals
• Collaborate with colleagues to create a safe, inclusive environment
• Follow safeguarding procedures and promote pupil welfare
