Job summary

Connex Education Partnership is recruiting SEND Learning Support Assistants to work across specialist schools and SEND settings in Stroud and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Learning Support Assistants, Teaching Assistants and professionals from education, care or support backgrounds who are passionate about helping children and young people with additional needs.

We offer flexible day-to-day supply, short- and long-term placements and temp-to-perm

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEND or backgrounds in education, care or support.
  • Ability to work with pupils across ASC/SEMH/SLD etc.
  • Willingness to work flexible day-to-day supply and longer placements.

Responsibilities

  • Providing individual, small-group and classroom support
  • Helping pupils engage with personalised curriculum
  • Supporting communication and interaction
  • Encouraging independence and development of life skills
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Supporting sensory, therapeutic and practical activities
  • Assisting with personal care where required
  • Supporting pupils with social and emotional development
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and specialist staff
  • Following individual education and support plans
  • Maintaining a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment

Location: Stroud
Pay: £95 - £110 per day PAYE

Connex Education Partnership is recruiting dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistants to work across specialist schools and SEND settings in Stroud and the surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Learning Support Assistants, Teaching Assistants and professionals from education, care or support backgrounds who are passionate about helping children and young people with additional needs. We offer flexible day-to-day supply, short- and long-term placements and temp-to-perm opportunities, giving you the freedom to choose work that matches your availability and experience.

The Role

Working as a SEND Learning Support Assistant in a specialist setting, you will provide tailored support to pupils and work as part of a wider team alongside teachers and specialist professionals.

You may support children and young people with a variety of needs, including:

  • ASC / Autism
  • SEMH and emotional regulation
  • SLD / PMLD
  • Complex and multiple needs
  • Communication and interaction difficulties
  • Sensory needs
  • Physical and medical needs
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Learning and developmental needs

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Providing individual, small-group and classroom support
  • Helping pupils engage with their personalised curriculum
  • Supporting communication and interaction
  • Encouraging independence and development of life skills
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Supporting sensory, therapeutic and practical activities

Who Are We Looking For?

We would particularly like to hear from candidates with experience or an interest in supporting children and young people with SEND, including those with backgrounds in:

  • Specialist education
  • Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant roles
  • PMLD / SLD
  • ASC / Autism
  • SEMH
  • Complex needs
  • Communication and interaction
  • Sensory support
  • Physical or medical support
  • Behaviour support
  • Care and support work
  • Youth work
  • Therapeutic or intervention settings

Team-Teach and other positive behaviour management training is highly welcomed.

Previous experience within a specialist school is desirable, but we are also keen to hear from candidates with relevant transferable experience who are looking to develop their career within SEND education.
