Job summary

The Norton Knatchbull School is seeking a motivated Learning Support Assistant apprentice focused on SEND to support students aged 11–18 within a secondary school setting. You will assist learning 1:1 and in small groups, maintain records, and work with staff to raise attainment.

You will undertake specialist training in SEND and curriculum provision, with mandatory courses and on-the-job training. The role includes safeguarding responsibilities and a commitment to equality and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Support students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Keep detailed records of learning and provide feedback to teachers.
• Build understanding of students' learning with reference to the National Curriculum.
• Contribute to safeguarding, health and wellbeing of pupils.
• Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of work.

Responsibilities

• Provides support for students 1:1 and in small groups to access learning.
• Keep detailed records of learning/observations and provide feedback to inform subsequent provision.
• Organise and deliver small group interventions.
• Provide effective support for colleagues.
• Work in close partnership with teachers/parents/carers to improve outcomes.
• Keep abreast of developments in Additional Educational Needs.
• Contribute to pupil behaviour management.
• Contribute to safeguarding, health and wellbeing of pupils.
• Provide administrative support for the Inclusion Manager.
