Job summary

Newham College of Further Education in East London is seeking a dedicated Job Coach to support learners with SEND in achieving meaningful work-based learning and employment outcomes.

You will coach and guide young people with SEND to develop the skills, confidence and independence needed for the workplace, working with students, employers and staff to promote inclusive employment practices across settings.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with SEND in developing work skills.
• Experience assisting young people with SEND in the workplace, on work experience, or through Supported Internship programmes.
• Experience collaborating with a range of partners to deliver successful learning programmes.
• Experience managing social enterprise projects involving people with SEND.
• Experience maintaining records related to learner progress.
• Experience liaising with young people and families to arrange placements and provide feedback.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements in a workplace setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored coaching and support to learners with SEND in their work placements.
• Collaborate with tutors, managers, employers, families, and external agencies to create a supportive work environment.
• Assist learners in building essential skills, such as time management, customer service, and catering.
• Conduct health and safety checks and create risk assessments for work placements.
• Develop and adapt employability plans to meet individual needs, promoting growth and independence.
• Support learners in overcoming barriers to employment and ensure their well-being at all times
