Job summary

London South East Colleges (LSEC) is seeking a committed and practical Job Coach (SEND) to support learners with additional needs to move confidently into the workplace and progress towards employment. This fixed-term role runs until 7 July 2027 and is hands‑on, working directly with learners and employers to prepare for placements and employment.

You will work before, during and after work placements, helping learners with CVs, interviews, travel training and workplace tasks, while liaising

Qualifications

• A good standard of education, with at least Level 2 Maths and English (or willingness to work towards this).
• Experience supporting learners or young people, ideally in a SEND, FE or workplace setting.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice.
• Ability to work flexibly, use initiative and manage time well.
• Basic to good IT skills.
• Experience with SEND learners, work-based learning, employability support or vocational profiling is welcome; knowledge of Makaton/BSL/Sign‑a‑Long is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support learners to prepare for work, including CVs, interview prep, travel training and workplace visits.
• Match learners to placements through job analysis and employer engagement.
• Provide in‑work support, mentoring and confidence-building during placements.
• Train learners to master tasks and meet employer expectations.
• Explain learners’ strengths and support needs to employers.
• Support progression into paid employment where appropriate.
• Keep clear records and reports on learner progress.
• Liaise with parents/carers, tutors, employers and external agencies.
