Job summary

Yeovil College seeks an enthusiastic Intervention and Cover Lecturer to support learners with SEND. You will deliver engaging cover sessions, develop targeted interventions, and plan support aligned with EHCPs.

You’ll work with specialist staff, contribute to cross-college training, and support learners both in and out of class, including educational trips. The role is in the Foundation Learning Team, offering a collaborative environment and opportunities to make a meaningful difference in

Qualifications

• Experience teaching students with SEND in mainstream, college or specialist provision.
• Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards is required.
• Experience supporting young people to learn and develop new skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with colleagues.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Empathic approach to teaching with confidence handling challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality cover teaching and tailored interventions during short-term absences.
• Develop intervention strategies and plan targeted support for individuals or small groups.
• Maintain risk assessments and manage classroom behaviour.
• Support learners inside and outside the classroom, including trips and meetings with external agencies.
• Liaise with study programme managers and contribute to cross-college training.
