Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Tutor to support children aged 3-18 across Coventry and surrounding areas from September 2026. This role offers flexible hours within school times (8:00am–4:00pm) and requires QTS and SEN experience.

You will deliver tailored tuition in Maths, English, and Science, adapt to EHCP targets, and monitor progress while building strong relationships with learners, families, and schools.

Qualifications

• QTS and experience supporting students with SEN are essential.
• Strong knowledge of the UK curriculum and ability to teach core subjects (Maths, English, Science).
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 tuition sessions to students with SEN and additional needs.
• Plan and deliver lessons in Maths, English and Science.
• Adapt teaching to individual learning styles and EHCP targets.
• Build positive relationships with students, families, schools, and professionals.
• Monitor, assess and record progress with regular feedback.
• Create a safe, structured learning environment.
• Work independently with support from Tradewind Tuition Team.

1:1 SEN Tutor - Coventry & Surrounding Areas

September 2026 Start Qualified Teacher (QTS) Essential Flexible Hours Between 8am-4pm

Are you a passionate and experienced teacher looking to make a genuine difference to young people with Special Educational Needs?

Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking dedicated 1:1 SEN Tutors to support children and young people across Coventry and the surrounding areas from September 2026.

This role involves working with students aged 3-18 who may be out of mainstream education or require additional support due to a range of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties, and complex needs. Tuition may take place within schools, at home, or in community settings depending on the individual needs of each learner.

The Role

• Deliver tailored 1:1 tuition sessions to students with SEN and additional needs
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in core subjects including Maths, English, and Science
• Adapt lessons to suit individual learning styles, academic ability, and EHCP targets
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students, families, schools, and professionals
• Monitor, assess, and record student progress, providing regular feedback where required
• Create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
• Work independently while receiving ongoing support from the Tradewind Tuition Team
• Flexible working hours available within school hours (8:00am-4:00pm, Monday to Friday)

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience supporting students with SEN and/or additional needs
• Strong knowledge of the UK curriculum
• Experience teaching or tutoring core subjects including Maths and English
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
• Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learner needs
• Compassionate, patient, and child-centred approach
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience delivering GCSE or Functional Skills tuition
• Experience working within SEN schools, Alternative Provisions, PRUs, or delivering 1:1 tuition
• Knowledge of differentiated teaching approaches and trauma-informed practice
