Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant or HLTA for a SEND specialist provision in Manchester. You will support a small class of around 12 pupils with complex needs on a full academic year contract, 8:00am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

You will work under a SEND teacher with two other staff, providing 1:1 and small-group support, and helping with routines, interventions and outdoor activities.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare.
• Experience as Teaching Assistant or HLTA in a school.
• Experience with SEND and complex needs.
• Direct school-based SEND experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND.
• Support learning, communication, independence and social development.
• Help create a calm, structured and nurturing classroom environment.
• Work closely with the class teacher and wider SEND team.
• Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
• Take an active role in outdoor learning and activities where appropriate.
• Support the teacher with classroom routines, resources and interventions.
• Help deliver engaging activities adapted to individual pupils' needs.
• Support the teacher with PPA cover one afternoon each week.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage confidence, independence and engagement.
• Contribute to a consistent and supportive approach to behaviour and individual needs.
