Job summary

Oak Tree School is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support SEND provision for learners aged 5 to 19. The role focuses on planning and delivering learning to individuals, small groups and whole classes under teaching staff, with resources adapted to each student’s needs.

The post is a term-time role of 35 hours per week with five INSET days. Visa sponsorship is not available. The school opened in September 2023 and offers extensive CPD opportunities.

Qualifications

• Higher Level Teaching Assistant standards or an equivalent qualification or experience
• Level 2 qualification or equivalent in English and mathematics
• Understanding of the National Curriculum, child development and learning processes
• Ability to plan, organise and lead learning activities for students with learning needs

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver challenging learning for individuals, small groups or whole classes under a named teacher
• Produce and adapt schemes of work, lesson plans and resources to individual student needs
• Monitor, assess, record and report attainment and progress, giving feedback to improve outcomes
• Support literacy, numeracy and basic skills programmes, using ICT to build engagement and independence
• Promote positive behaviour and a calm, purposeful and safe learning environment
• Develop, implement and review provision plans and contribute to annual reviews where relevant
• Work with parents, carers, colleagues, external agencies and professionals to support progress, wellbeing and inclusion
