Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking a patient, SEND English Tutor to provide personalised one-to-one English tuition to a secondary-aged learner in Wells, Somerset.

You will adapt teaching to meet SEND needs, build confidence and support GCSE readiness where appropriate in an in-person role, liaising with parents and other professionals.

Qualifications

• Strong English knowledge at secondary level.
• Experience teaching or tutoring English.
• Experience working with secondary-aged learners with SEND.
• Experience providing one-to-one support is desirable.
• Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet SEND needs.
• Experience supporting learners with barriers to mainstream education.
• SEMH experience would be highly desirable.
• Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

Quantum Scholars are looking for a patient, supportive and experienced SEND English Tutor to provide personalised one-to-one tuition to a young person in Wells.

The successful tutor will have strong English subject knowledge and experience supporting secondary-aged learners with SEND. You will be confident adapting your teaching style, pace, resources and explanations to meet individual needs, while helping the learner build confidence and make positive progress in English.

Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, anxiety, school avoidance, disengagement or challenging behaviour would be highly desirable. The ability to create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment will be essential.

This is an in-person tutoring role and is not online work.

The role may involve:

• Providing personalised one-to-one English tuition to a secondary-aged learner.
• Supporting a young person with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Supporting the secondary English curriculum, including GCSE where appropriate.

Essential requirements:

• Strong English subject knowledge at secondary level.
