Job summary

Quantum Scholars seeks a patient, supportive SEND English Tutor to provide personalised one-to-one tuition for secondary-aged learners in Hereford, Herefordshire.

You will bring strong English knowledge, adaptions for SEND needs, and a calm, positive classroom environment to help learners build confidence and engagement with English. In-person role with safeguarding responsibilities and DBS checks expected.

Qualifications

• Strong English knowledge at secondary level.
• Experience teaching or tutoring English.
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
• Experience supporting learners with barriers to mainstream education is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalised one-to-one English tuition to secondary-aged learners.

• Support the secondary English curriculum, including GCSE where appropriate.
• Develop reading, writing, comprehension, spelling, grammar and vocabulary skills.
• Identify gaps in knowledge and provide targeted support.

Quantum Scholars are looking for a patient, supportive and experienced SEND English Tutor to provide personalised one-to-one tuition to secondary-aged young people in Hereford.

The successful tutor will have strong English subject knowledge and experience supporting learners with SEND. You will be confident adapting your teaching style, pace and resources to meet individual learning needs, while creating a calm and positive environment where the learner can build confidence and engage with English.

Experience supporting young people who have experienced barriers to mainstream education, anxiety, school avoidance, disengagement or SEMH needs would be highly desirable.

This is an in-person tutoring role and is not online work.

The role may involve:

• Providing personalised one-to-one English tuition to secondary-aged learners.

Essential requirements:

• Strong English subject knowledge at secondary level.
• Experience teaching or tutoring English.
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Experience providing one-to-one or personalised educational support is desirable.
• Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
• Experience supporting learners who may have barriers to mainstream education is desirable.
• A patient, calm, flexible and empathetic approach.

• Confidence supporting learners who may be reluctant, anxious or disengaged from education.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
