Overview

Role: SEND Emotional Support Facilitator

Location: Central Bedfordshire College - Kingsway Dunstable Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £24,720 and £29,870 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 (1.0 FTE) hours per week - 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent - Term Time

About the role: We are currently seeking a SEND Emotional Support Facilitator to join our Foundation Learning & Additional Learning Support department at The Bedford College Group.

  • SEND Student Support - Acts as the first point of contact for students accessing the Haven, providing tailored out-of-class support and mentoring in line with individual needs.
  • Engagement & Activities - Plans and leads lunchtime and social activities to promote inclusion, social interaction, and awareness through diversity calendar events.
  • Collaboration & Advocacy - Liaises with curriculum teams to support student wellbeing and achievement, advocates for student views, and contributes to performance monitoring and self-assessment.
  • Environment & Resources - Maintains a welcoming and inclusive Haven space with up-to-date displays and resources, ensuring health and safety standards are met.
  • Compliance & Development - Upholds safeguarding, equality, and health and safety policies, participates in training and development, and supports college-wide promotional events.
  • About you:
    • Qualifications & Technical Skills - Holds A Levels or equivalent, GCSEs in English and Maths, and is proficient in Microsoft Office and IT systems relevant to education.
    • SEND & Education Knowledge - Understands the SEND Code of Practice, safeguarding, confidentiality, and current developments in further and post-16 education.
    • Experience & Collaboration - Experienced in supporting young people with SEND, working in further education settings, and collaborating effectively with staff and external agencies.
    • Communication & Student Support - Communicates confidently across formats, builds appropriate relationships, and supports diverse student groups through one-to-one engagement and referrals.
    • Professionalism & Flexibility - Demonstrates strong organisation, initiative, and alignment with college values; committed to safeguarding, continuous development, and flexible working across locations.
