Are you a qualified teacher looking for a fresh start, a new challenge or a more rewarding teaching role? WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

You DON'T need previous SEND teaching experience to apply!

TeacherActive is looking for enthusiastic and passionate SEND Class Teachers to join a fantastic specialist school in Ware, Hertfordshire, supporting young people aged 11–16 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Whether you're an experienced SEND Teacher, a mainstream Primary or Secondary Teacher looking for a change, or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) wanting to explore specialist education, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

If you have QTS, a positive attitude and a genuine desire to make a difference, we'd love to have a chat!

Why should you apply?
  • NO PREVIOUS SEND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! If you've worked in a mainstream school and fancy a change, we'd love to hear from you.
  • PRIMARY & SECONDARY TEACHERS WELCOME! Your teaching background doesn't need to be specifically in SEND.
  • ECTs ENCOURAGED TO APPLY! A fantastic opportunity to explore specialist education and develop your teaching skills.
  • PAID TRIAL DAYS AVAILABLE! Experience the school first-hand, meet the team and see if it's the right environment for you.
  • COMPETITIVE RATES OF PAY! Rates discussed based on your qualifications and experience.
  • FLEXIBLE OPPORTUNITIES! Full-time and part-time options available.
  • SMALLER CLASS SIZES! Enjoy the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with pupils and provide more individualised support.
  • SUPPORTIVE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT! Work alongside experienced Teaching Assistants, SEND specialists and education professionals.
  • CAREER DEVELOPMENT! Build valuable SEND experience and expand your teaching career.
  • REWARDING WORK! Make a genuine difference to pupils who benefit from your patience, creativity and encouragement.
What will you be doing?

As a SEND Class Teacher, you'll be working with young people with a range of additional needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Sensory processing difficulties
  • Additional learning and developmental needs

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, creative lessons adapted to pupils' individual abilities.
  • Teaching a small class of pupils with a range of additional learning needs.
  • Creating a positive, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants and specialist support staff.
  • Adapting teaching strategies to help pupils access the curriculum.
  • Supporting pupils' confidence, independence and emotional development.
  • Monitoring progress and celebrating achievements, however big or small.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, parents and the wider school team.
Who are we looking for?

The most important thing is that you hold QTS and genuinely care about making a difference!

We'd love to hear from you if you're:

  • A qualified teacher with UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A Primary Teacher interested in transitioning into SEND education.
  • A Secondary Teacher looking for a different teaching environment.
  • An ECT looking to gain valuable experience in a specialist setting.
  • An experienced SEND Teacher seeking a new opportunity.
  • A teacher returning to education after a career break.
  • Someone who is patient, enthusiastic, adaptable and willing to learn.

Never worked in a SEND school before? DON'T LET THAT STOP YOU APPLYING!

We understand that moving from mainstream education into a specialist setting can feel like a big step. That's why we're happy to discuss your experience, answer your questions and arrange a paid trial day so you can see whether the role is right for you.

You don't need to tick every box. If you've got QTS and are open to exploring something new, we want to hear from you!

Why work with TeacherActive?

Not sure if SEND teaching is for you? That's absolutely fine!

You don't need to commit to anything straight away. We're happy to have an informal conversation about the school, the pupils and what the role involves.
