Job summary

Empowering Learning are recruiting a SEND Class Teacher to work in a special needs school in Nottinghamshire. The ideal candidate will have SEND classroom experience and the ability to teach EYFS/primary pupils with a strong emphasis on inclusive education.

The role requires excellent communication, organisation, and a commitment to safeguarding. QTS or QTLS is preferred but not essential, as attitude and personality are highly valued. September 2026 start date.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a school setting with SEND pupils.
• Ability to teach across the primary curriculum including EYFS.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills; ability to work with diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Planning lessons and activities for whole class and group learning.
• Supporting SEND pupils with their work in a class setting.
• Managing difficult behaviours and implementing the school behaviour policy.
• Safeguarding vulnerable pupils.
• Possible supervision during lunch and break times.
• Supporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroom.
• Building relationships with staff and pupils.
• Collecting evidence of pupils' work to support assessments.
• Providing feedback to staff about pupil progress.
• Pastoral responsibility for a group of pupils.
• Potentially leading a subject area.
• Ensuring a team approach with parents and carers.

Empowering Learning are recruiting a SEND Class Teacher to work in a special needs school in the Nottinghamshire. Experience working in a school setting and experience with SEND pupils is a must. QTS or QTLS is preferred but not essential, as attitude and personality are absolutely key. The ability to teach across the primary curriculum and the knowledge of sensory learning is essential also. This role is to start in September 2026.

The ideal candidate will:

• Class teacher experience (particularly in SEND)
• Have the ability to teach EYFS/primary age pupils.
• Be highly organised with excellent communication skills
• Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children from all needs and backgrounds
• Have excellent behaviour management skills
• Understand the expectations against the Teachers Standards.

Main Responsibilities:

• Planning lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning.
• Supporting SEND children with their work in a class setting
