Job summary

Bolton Council is seeking a SEND Assessment Officer to coordinate Education, Health and Care (EHC) Assessments and to issue or amend EHC Plans in accordance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and related regulations. The role includes attending annual reviews and sourcing suitable school placements.

You will advise parents, young people and professionals on procedures, ensuring information prepared meets statutory requirements while managing a busy workload to meet tight statutory

Qualifications

• Essential qualification: NVQ Level 3 or other equivalent qualification and/or significant experience of working within the SEND arena (education, health or social care).
• Working knowledge of SEND and experience liaising with parents/carers, schools and other agencies across education, health and social care.
• Strong communication and good ICT skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Education, Health and Care (EHC) Assessments and issue/amend EHC Plans under the Children and Families Act 2014 and related legislation.
• Attend annual reviews and source school placements as part of casework.
• Advise parents, young people and professionals on EHC needs assessment procedures and ensure information prepared meets statutory requirements.
