Job summary

Newcastle College is seeking a SEND Adviser to support learners with additional learning needs and/or disabilities. You will work with staff, families and external agencies to develop personalised support plans and coordinate exam access arrangements when needed.

You will manage a caseload of SEND and mental health support learners, require Level 2 English & Maths, and be able to work flexibly, including evenings, within an inclusive education team.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 English & Maths or equivalent.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings.
  • Experience supporting learners with SEND.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to a caseload of learners with SEND and mental health support needs, including those with an EHC plan.
  • Liaise with college staff to plan and implement support in and outside of the classroom.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Do you want to make a difference? Newcastle College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEND Adviser to join a passionate team that supports the achievements of students with additional learning needs and/or disabilities including young people and adults. As a SEND Adviser, you will collaborate with internal colleagues, parents/carers, and external agencies to create and implement personalised support plans for learners. Your expertise will contribute to fostering an inclusive learning environment where every student can achieve their full potential.

You will provide direct support to a caseload of learners with SEND and mental health support needs, including learners with an educational, health and care plan, which may entail an initial assessment, regular support, and support reviews. You will liaise with college staff to plan and implement suitable support in and outside of the classroom and coordinate the application of exam access arrangements if required.

As the successful candidate, you will be an enthusiastic and adaptable person, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to inclusive education. You will have Level 2 English & Maths or equivalent and be able to work flexibly, including evening work, and supporting at external specialist provision.
