Job summary

Elementa Support Services Ltd is seeking dedicated SENCOs to join our network of schools in Gloucestershire. Flexible hours available (full-time or part-time) with pay to scale (MPS + UPS) and ASAP start.

You will lead SEND provision across settings and work with leaders, teachers, support staff, parents and external agencies. Ideal candidates hold QTS and NASENCO or are working toward the qualification; have experience in SENCO roles and knowledge of SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes and

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO), or are currently working towards the qualification.
  • Experience as SENCO, Assistant SENCO or within a SEN leadership role.
  • Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes, annual reviews and statutory requirements.
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and complex needs.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the school or setting.
  • Oversee identification, assessment and support of students with additional needs.
  • Manage EHCP processes, annual reviews and statutory requirements.
  • Monitor student progress and evaluate SEND provision effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop strategies and interventions.
  • Provide staff training to strengthen inclusive practice.
  • Liaise with parents, external professionals and local authorities.
  • Maintain SEND records and ensure proper documentation.
  • Support implementation and review of individual support plans.

We are seeking dedicated and experienced SENCOs to join our network of schools and education settings across a range of environments, including mainstream schools, specialist SEND settings, Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and alternative provision.

These opportunities are ideal for SENCOs looking for flexible, part-time, temporary, contract or longer-term roles where they can use their expertise to make a meaningful difference to the lives and outcomes of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The Role

As a SENCO, you will lead and coordinate SEND provision within your allocated setting, working closely with senior leaders, teachers, support staff, parents/carers, external professionals and local authorities.

Depending on the setting and role, responsibilities may include:

  • Leading and coordinating high-quality SEND provision across the school or setting
  • Overseeing the identification, assessment and support of students with additional needs
  • Managing and coordinating EHCP processes, annual reviews and statutory requirements
  • Monitoring student progress and evaluating the effectiveness of SEND provision
  • Working collaboratively with teaching and support staff to develop appropriate strategies and interventions
  • Providing advice, guidance and training to staff to strengthen inclusive practice
  • Liaising effectively with parents/carers and external agencies, including educational psychologists, health professionals and local authorities
  • Maintaining accurate SEND records and ensuring appropriate documentation is completed
  • Supporting the effective implementation and review of individual support plans and provision
  • Promoting an inclusive culture where all students are supported to achieve their potential
  • Ensuring SEND provision is compliant with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant statutory requirements
We Are Looking For

We are interested in hearing from SENCOs who have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO), or are currently working towards the qualification
  • Experience working as a SENCO, Assistant SENCO or within a SEN leadership role
  • Experience within one or more educational settings, including mainstream schools, specialist/SEND settings, PRUs or alternative provision
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes, annual reviews and statutory requirements
  • Experience supporting students with a range of needs, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties and complex needs
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience working collaboratively with parents/carers, external professionals and local authorities
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
  • A proactive, flexible and solution-focused approach
  • A genuine commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND
