Job summary

Elementa Support Services Ltd in Bath & North East Somerset is seeking an experienced SENCO to lead SEND provision across diverse schools and settings. You will collaborate with senior leaders, teachers, parents and external professionals to ensure high-quality SEND support and compliant processes.

Responsibilities include leading SEND provision, EHCP coordination, annual reviews and monitoring student progress, with a focus on inclusion and effective interventions.

Qualifications

  • QTS and NASENCO as required or in progress
  • Experience as SENCO or in a leadership role
  • Experience in settings including mainstream, SEND and PRUs/alternative provision
  • Strong knowledge of SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes, annual reviews and statutory requirements
  • Experience supporting SEMH, ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties and complex needs
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience collaborating with parents/carers, external professionals and local authorities
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Proactive, flexible and solution-focused approach; commitment to inclusion

Responsibilities

Days: full-time
Pay: MPS + UPS Available (Paid to Scale)

We are seeking dedicated and experienced SENCOs to join our network of schools and education settings across a range of environments, including mainstream schools, specialist SEND settings, Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and alternative provision.

These opportunities are ideal for SENCOs looking for flexible, part-time, temporary, contract or longer-term roles where they can use their expertise to make a meaningful difference to the lives and outcomes of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The Role

As a SENCO, you will lead and coordinate SEND provision within your allocated setting, working closely with senior leaders, teachers, support staff, parents/carers, external professionals and local authorities.

Depending on the setting and role, responsibilities may include:

  • Leading and coordinating high-quality SEND provision across the school or setting
  • Overseeing the identification, assessment and support of students with additional needs
  • Managing and coordinating EHCP processes, annual reviews and statutory requirements
  • Monitoring student progress and evaluating the effectiveness of SEND provision
  • Working collaboratively with teaching and support staff to develop appropriate strategies and interventions
  • Providing advice, guidance and training to staff to strengthen inclusive practice
  • Liaising effectively with parents/carers and external agencies, including educational psychologists, health professionals and local authorities
  • Maintaining accurate SEND records and ensuring appropriate documentation is completed
  • Supporting the effective implementation and review of individual support plans and provision
  • Promoting an inclusive culture where all students are supported to achieve their potential
  • Ensuring SEND provision is compliant with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant statutory requirements
We Are Looking For

We are interested in hearing from SENCOs who have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO), or are currently working towards the qualification
  • Experience working as a SENCO, Assistant SENCO or within a SEN leadership role
  • Experience within one or more educational settings, including mainstream schools, specialist/SEND settings, PRUs or alternative provision
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes, annual reviews and statutory requirements
  • Experience supporting students with a range of needs, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties and complex needs
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience working collaboratively with parents/carers, external professionals and local authorities
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
  • A proactive, flexible and solution-focused approach
  • A genuine commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND

Contract & recruitment information
