Secondary School SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)
Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance (based on experience)
Our Secondary School client, who are part of a thriving education Trust in Essex are seeking a SENCO to join their team in September 2025, on a full time permanent basis.
The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) will to lead and manage the provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality teaching, effective support strategies, and robust interventions are in place for our SEND students.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the strategic development of SEND provision across the school
Identify and assess students’ needs and ensure appropriate support is in place
Coordinate the work of the Learning Support team and liaise with external agencies
Develop and implement EHCPs and ensure compliance with current legislation
Support and train staff in best practices for inclusion and differentiation
Monitor the progress and wellbeing of SEND students and ensure effective interventions
Communicate regularly with parents/carers, staff, and governors about SEND provision
What They’re Looking For:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
National Award for SEN Coordination (or a willingness to complete it within 3 years)
Proven experience working with SEND students, ideally in a secondary school setting
Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
A commitment to inclusion and raising achievement for all students
