Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Manchester is recruiting a SEN Youth Worker in Schools to provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with additional needs, helping them build confidence, resilience, social skills and positive relationships while encouraging engagement in learning.

You will work alongside teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to promote inclusion and safeguarding, using de‑escalation techniques and calm, patient support to help pupils thrive in and beyond the classroom.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people in education or youth settings.
• Genuine passion for helping vulnerable learners.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
• Assist pupils with social, communication, and life skills development.
• Encourage participation in learning activities and enrichment sessions.
• Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
• Support pupils through challenging situations using de-escalation techniques.
• Work alongside teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams.
• Promote independence, confidence, and self-esteem.
• Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.
