Job summary

Education World is recruiting dedicated tutors to support SEN/SEMH learners in 1:1 settings across the North East, including Stockton, Teesside and Cleveland. These roles involve working with young people who are currently out of mainstream education, providing tailored academic and pastoral support.

You will deliver personalised sessions in home or community settings, build trusting relationships, and collaborate with families and external professionals to re-engage learners with education.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with SEN, SEMH or vulnerable learners.
  • Calm, patient and adaptable approach.
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 personalised sessions in a home or community setting, with reliable travel.
  • Support students with SEN/SEMH needs, adapting approaches as required.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet individual learning needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships to support emotional regulation and engagement.
  • Monitor progress and provide weekly and termly feedback.
  • Collaborate with families, schools and external professionals.

SEN / SEMH Tutor – 1:1 Alternative Education
Location: Stockton/Teesside/Cleveland

Education World is working in partnership with local authorities and alternative provisions to recruitdedicated tutorsto support young people withSpecial Educational Needs (SEN)andSocial, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)needs in1:1 settings.

These roles involve working with students who are currentlyout of mainstream education, providing tailored academic and pastoral support to help re-engage them with learning.

The Role

As a tutor, you will:

  • Deliver1:1 personalised sessionsin a home or community setting - reliable travel required
  • Support students withSEN and/or SEMH needs, adapting your approach accordingly
  • Plan and deliverengaging, differentiated lessonsto meet individual learning needs
  • Buildpositive, trusting relationshipsto support emotional regulation and engagement
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to support ongoing development - both weekly and termly
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, and external professionals
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience working withSEN, SEMH, or vulnerable learners

Pay Rates
  • £25 per hour– Tutors with relevant experience
  • £30 per hour– Qualified Teachers (QTS)
