Job summary

Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils and SEN teams across the UK to provide SEN Tutors in the North Durham area. This role delivers 1:1 or small group tuition to students with special educational needs during school hours, with both part-time and full-time hours available.

You will design personalised lesson plans, monitor progress with weekly reports, and help pupils regain confidence and independence in a supportive setting. Rate up to £30/hr negotiable.

Qualifications

• Children-related/education qualification.
• Experience in UK classroom teaching is desirable.
• Creative, patient and willing to think outside the box.
• Experience working with students with SEN including various learning difficulties and challenging behaviours.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition supporting students with SEN, focusing on confidence, life skills, community access, cooking and independence.
• Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps.
• Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families.
• Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students rebuild confidence in learning.
• Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.

SEN Tutor - North Durham (Chester le Street area)

Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils, SEN teams and Schools throughout the UK. We have a high demand for one-to-one or small group SEN Tutors who have experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the Newcastle area.

The Opportunity

As a SEN Tutor, you must be able to create, plan and deliver 1:1 lessons that are tailored to each individual student. You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience of working with children in a therapeutic way. One of your aims will be to support the pupil in their learning, offer structure back into their daily routine and continue their educational development until a suitable placement is found.

The tuition is replacing school for these young people and each individual is commissioned for a certain amount of hours, taking place during school hours, five days a week. Prospero will work with you closely to monitor the progression with each pupil by asking you to submit weekly reports. We can accommodate both part time and full time hours.

Contract/Position Details:

Location - North Durham area

Start date - ASAP

Setting - either within the student's home or in the community (learning hub/library)

Contract type - Temporary

Full-time/part-time availability, ranging from 6-15hours p/w per student

Rate of pay - up to 30 per hour (negotiable)

Your role with us:

Experience, Training and Qualifications:

• Children related/Education qualification
• Possess UK classroom teaching experience
• Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
• Have experience working with students with SEN including various learning difficulties and challenging behaviours

To be eligible for this role, the potential SEN Tutor must:

• Hold the right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
