Job summary

Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting a SEND Specialist Tutor for a Year 5 student in the Hebburn area. The role involves delivering English and Maths tuition, in the student’s home or a community hub, with sessions focused on executive functioning and tailored strategies for ASD/ADHD students.

Sessions are 2x1.5 hours weekly (total 3 hours), with hours ranging up to 15 per week and a rate up to £30 per hour. QTS or SPLD qualifications and UK teaching experience are required.

• Experience working with SEND including ASD, ADHD, GLD and challenging behaviours.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group tutoring in English and Maths for a Year 5 student in Hebburn.
• Integrate executive functioning strategies into tutoring sessions.
• Deliver sessions in the student's home or a community learning hub, up to 15 hours per student.

Job description

Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils, SEND teams, and schools throughout the UK. We are currently experiencing a high demand for one-to-one and small-group SEND Specialist Tutors who have experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the Hebburn area.

The Opportunity

• Year 5 – Female
• Hours – x3 per week (2x 1.5-hour sessions)
• SEN Needs – ASD, Anxiety, sensory processing difficulties, Demand avoidant
• Subjects – English and Maths
• Requirements – QTS, SPLD or high level of experience working with both Autistic and demand avoidant students

We have received a referral for this student due to start in September, with 2 x 1.5-hour sessions per week initially, focusing on English and Maths, tuition alongside 30 minutes of work around executive functioning.

The student is working towards age related expectations, but her current level is significantly delayed right now across literacy and numeracy skills, although it is not clear that this is as a direct result of her thinking and reasoning abilities.

• Location – Jarrow
• Type of work – Contract
• Setting – either within the student’s home or in the community (learning hub/library)
• Duration – Until the pupil is able to find a suitable school placement
• Contract type – Temporary
• Full-time/part-time availability, ranging from 6-15hours p/w per student
• Rate of pay – up to £30 per hour (negotiable)

Experience, Training and Qualifications of the SEND Specialist Tutor:

• QTS or SPLD qualification
• Possess UK classroom teaching experience
• Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
• Have experience working with students with SEND including ASD, ADHD, GLD and challenging behaviours
• Have experience working with students with SEND including ASD, ADHD, GLD and challenging behaviours

To be eligible for this role, the potential SEND Specialist Tutor must:

• Hold the right to work in the UK
