Job summary

Study Mind is seeking a calm SEN Tutor in Harlow to work 1:1 with a Year 12 student at home. The role focuses on rebuilding confidence and re-engagement with learning, particularly towards Functional Skills English and maths, using science as an entry point.

The position offers £30 to £35 per hour, flexible, part-time hours, ongoing support from our SEN Tutor community, and a long-term placement.

Qualifications

• Experience as an SEN Tutor with anxious or medically complex learners.
• Understanding of school avoidance and low-demand approaches.
• Willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS.

Responsibilities

• Support a Year 12 learner 1:1 at home to rebuild confidence and re-engagement with learning.

Job description

SEN Tutor - Harlow, Essex

£30 to £35 per hour

• Home tuition, family home in Harlow
• 8 hours per week (2 hours per day, 4 days per week, 1pm to 3pm preferred)
• Start date: 1st September 2026

The Role

We are looking for a calm, patient SEN Tutor to support a Year 12 learner 1:1 at home. The student has Crohn's disease and anxiety and has not left the family home for around two years. As SEN Tutor, you will help rebuild confidence and re-engagement with learning, working towards Functional Skills English and maths, with science as an entry point.

• Experience as an SEN Tutor with anxious or medically complex learners
• Understanding of school avoidance and low-demand approaches
• Patient, consistent and reliable
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
