Job summary

Study Mind in the United Kingdom is seeking a calm, patient SEN Mentor to support a Year 10 student on a 1:1 basis at home in Pilgrims Hatch, Brentwood. The role focuses on building trust, reducing isolation, and using interest-led activities at the student’s own pace.

This is not tutoring. The ideal candidate has experience with autism and significant anxiety. A willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS is required.

Qualifications

• Experience as an SEN Mentor supporting autistic young people with significant anxiety.
• Understanding of low-demand, child-led approaches.
• Patient, consistent and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 SEN mentoring at the student's home.
• Build trust and reduce isolation through interest-led activities.
• Support the student at their own pace, avoiding tutoring emphasis.

Role Details

• Home-based mentoring, family home in Pilgrims Hatch, Brentwood
• 4 hours per week (2 days per week, 2 hours per day)
• Start date: 1st September 2026
• Hourly rate: £30 to £35 per hour

The Role

We are looking for a calm, patient SEN Mentor to support a Year 10 student on a 1:1 basis at home. The student has autism and significant anxiety, and has been unable to attend school since February 2024. This is not a tutoring role. As SEN Mentor, you will focus on building trust and reducing isolation through interest-led activities, at the student's own pace.
