Job summary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant for a large primary school in Nuneaton. You will support pupils in Years 3-6, delivering 1:1 and small group interventions across the school day, with a focus on SEMH, ASD, ADHD and other needs.

This is a long-term role with potential to become permanent, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, term time only. You will collaborate with teachers, SENCO and the inclusion team to help pupils access learning, develop confidence and build

Qualifications

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and behavioural needs is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; calm and resilient approach.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and additional learning needs.
  • Delivering targeted small group interventions across Years 3 to 6.
  • Supporting pupils in and out of the classroom to maximise engagement in learning.
  • Adapting learning activities to meet pupils' individual needs.
  • Working with Teachers, SENCO and external professionals to monitor pupil progress.

Long Term Futures are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our partner primary schools in Nuneaton.

This rewarding role involves supporting pupils acrossYears 3 to 6, providing a mixture of1:1 and small group intervention supportfor children with a range of additional needs includingSEMH, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD and behavioural needs. You will work closely with the class teachers, SENCO and wider inclusion team to help pupils access learning, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes throughout the school day.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting children with SEND who is looking for a long-term role with the potential to become permanent.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and additional learning needs
  • Delivering targeted small group interventions across Years 3 to 6
  • Supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom to maximise engagement in learning
  • Supporting emotional regulation, social development and independence
  • Implementing strategies outlined within EHCPs and individual support plans
  • Adapting learning activities to meet pupils' individual needs
  • Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals to monitor pupil progress
  • Building positive relationships that promote confidence, resilience and self-esteem
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and behavioural needs
  • Experience delivering effective 1:1 and small group interventions
  • Good understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning strategies
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Team Teach or Positive Handling Training
  • Trauma-Informed Practice
  • Emotion Coaching
  • Zones of Regulation
  • Makaton
  • Sensory Processing or Sensory Circuits Training
  • Understanding of Neurodiversity and Inclusive Practice
