Job summary

Protocol Education Limited is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of additional needs in Northallerton and surrounding areas. The role focuses on SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and other learning requirements, providing consistency, encouragement and a safe learning environment.

You will work 1:1 or in small groups to help students regulate emotions, build relationships and engage with lessons. A calm, patient approach and a valid DBS Update Service are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs.
• Confidence supporting students with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD and challenging behaviours.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach to managing behaviours and building relationships.
• Understanding of trauma-informed or restorative approaches is desirable.
• References ready for clearance.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential).
• SEN qualification or a care-based qualification.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils who may struggle with regulating emotions, building positive relationships, managing behaviour, or engaging in learning due to SEMH needs and other additional learning requirements.
• Provide consistency, encouragement, and a safe environment where pupils can build confidence and succeed.
• Work 1:1 or with small groups to provide tailored support.
• Help students develop emotional regulation, social skills and confidence.
• Support behaviour in a positive, restorative way.
• Create a calm, structured environment where students feel safe and ready to learn.
• Encourage engagement, attendance and participation in lessons.
